From Beirut to Pasay to Seoul: Carl Tamayo’s crazy week begins

Carl Tamayo will miss University of the Philippines’ quarterfinals game in the 2022 Filoil Ecooil Preseason Cup against Far Eastern University on Tuesday.

In the wee hours of Tuesday, the 21-year-old native of Talisay, Cebu – and the rest of Gilas Pilipinas Men – will fly out of Manila as they figure in a 12-hour flight to Beirut.

It will officially mark the start of a long week for Tamayo who will be in three countries during that span.

On Thursday (Manila time), Gilas will face the Cedars at Stade Nouhad Naufal in Zouk Mikael.

The Philippine contingent will immediately leave Lebanon the next day to head back home.

For the weekend, Tamayo and Gilas will be training non-stop in preparation for their game against Saudi Arabi at SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City on Monday.

According to multiple sources closely monitoring the situation, Tamayo will immediately head to the airport after the game as he will fly to Seoul alone.

The Fighting Maroons will leave the country on the 28th.

In Korea, UP will hold a camp and will face Korean Basketball League teams Changwon LG, Jeonju KCC, Seoul Samsung, Ulsan Hyundai Mobis, and Seoul SK.

UP will head back home on September 10. The UAAP begins on October 1.

Definitely, there will be no rest for Tamayo.
