After a season hounded by internal issues, Cignal Ultra has finally let go of carry Denz “Abat” Anedez as per Valve’s Majors registration page.
The relationship between Abat and Cignal turned sour right before the start of the season.
During their second game in the Closed Qualifier Stage Two, Cignal Ultra manhandled Team Veteran all thanks to the monster Alchemist performance of Abat. But things went south quickly for the Warriors in Game Two, losing Game Two in lopsided fashion to settle for a draw.
Abat vented his frustrations right after the match. He later posted “LFT” after the match on his Facebook page, which means ‘looking for a team.’
The embattled carry was nowhere to be found in Cignal’s match against HOYO which forced coach Jae “Jae” Paulo to fill in the carry spot. The team dropped the opener before forfeiting their second match.
Team captain Erice “Erice” Guerra assumed the carry role for two games before Abat finally returned against Zero Two.
Despite the forgettable qualifiers round, Cignal managed to qualify for the lower division where it had a rousing start to its season.
The four-time The Nationals champion won its first three games of the season, but the team could not sustain their momentum as they dropped three of their last four games for a 4-3 record.
Cignal settled for the third spot — a game behind top one and two finishers Lilgun and Smart Omega Esports — who both have qualified for the DPC-SEA Season Two upper division.
Still, Cignal will be coming back in the lower division for Season Two.
