Majoy Baron can’t wait to face ‘B*yag’ partner Maddie Madayag in PVL

Elated was Majoy Baron after F2 Logistics finally decided to move to the Premier Volleyball League, Thursday afternoon.

Baron was part of the generation of volleyball players that has yet to step foot on a V-League court. And besides finally getting to make her debut in the country’s only professional women’s volleyball league, the 5-foot-11 spiker and the Cargo Movers can now prove who the queen of the land as all every team in the country is now under one roof.2019-asean-grand-prix-indonesia-def-philippines-majoy-baron Majoy Baron can't wait to face 'B*yag' partner Maddie Madayag in PVL News PVL Volleyball - philippine sports news

“Ine-expect ko na mas magiging mataas yung level of competition since lahat nagsama-sama na sa isang league,” the 25-year-old native of Concepcion, Tarlac told The Game hours after F2 Logistics announced their move.

“Makakalaban din namin yung former opponent namin pati former friends at national teammates namin.”

If there’s one particular person who Baron wants to face, it’s her sister-in-arm in the Philippine Women’s National Volleyball Team Maddie Madayag.2019-psl-super-cup-pwnvt-def-shine-maddie-madayag Majoy Baron can't wait to face 'B*yag' partner Maddie Madayag in PVL News PVL Volleyball - philippine sports news

“Sila Maddie ‘yan. Mga friends natin from Ateneo,” quipped the soft-spoken La Salle product.

The last time Madayag and Baron were on opposite sides of the net was back in UAAP Season 80.

A year after that, the two were on the same side as they wore the country’s colors for the national team. There, the two towering spikers were able to build a bond.

With their chemistry so vibrant, fans even playfully dubbed the duo as ‘B*yag’.

After three years, they can now face each other again when Baron and F2 Logistics face Madayag and Choco Mucho come the 2021 PVL Open Conference which begins on May 8.

F2 Logistics skipper Aby Marano made sure to make it clear that “former friends” was just a quip. After all, the volleyball community is a tightknit group — a group that is rejoicing as unity has finally been achieved.

“Former opponents yung ibig sabihin ni Majoy. Lahat ng rival players namin sa college, kaibigan namin yan.

“Bakbakan na talaga sa PVL,” said Ms. BMDC.
