TNC releases kpii, Febby after disappointing DPC run

After missing out on the ONE Esports: Singapore Major boat, TNC has decided to part ways with offlaner Damien “kpii” Chok and support Kim “Febby” Yong-min, Wednesday.

“We would like to thank Kim ‘Febby’ Yong-Min and Damien ‘kpii’ Chok for sharing their unrivaled professional skills with the team and bringing us multiple title wins during their stay. Today, we are announcing their release in our current roster,” read TNC’s statement.

“Through our wins and losses, Kpii and Febby displayed great potential and offered us a plethora of different strategies that made our team shine. Their help in bringing the team closer to the aegis of champions will forever be engraved in the history of our team, TNC Predator. Our roster with them is the best so far.”

TNC, one of the four direct invitees in the Dota Pro Circuit 2021: S1-Southeast Asia upper division, was poised to grab one of the three Major slots in the stacked region.

Unfortunately, though, the Filipino powerhouse squad hit a few bumps along the season, including a debut loss against Execration, which ultimately started their woes.

The team tried to salvage its season by winning three in a row against T1, Boom Esports, and 496 Gaming, respectively, but a late loss to SEA rival Fnatic put TNC in a dangerous spot to miss the ONE Esports Singapore Major — the first Major event of the 2021 DPC season.

A win by T1 over Neon Esports booted TNC out of contention, and eventually, Febby and kpii out of the team.

The 27-year-old offlaner out of Australia played a vital role in TNC’s dominance over the past year, helping the squad capture different titles in the ESL One Hamburg, the ESL One Thailand, the BTS Pro Series Season 4, and the crown jewel of it all, the MDL Chengdu Major.

Meanwhile, Febby, coached TNC for a year before standing in during the team’s championship campaign in the BTS Pro Series Season 4. He eventually replaced his good friend Park “March” Tae-won in the roster as the team’s hard support.

“For our next step, the team decided to move towards greater heights and agreed to part ways. Although this is the time we move in our own pace towards the aegis, our friendship never stops and we hope that in the future, we meet again with Kpii and Febby in the battlefield,” said TNC.

“We also extend our gratitude to our fans who are with us during our rise and fall, we’ll fight with everything that we have next DPC season! TNC Predator will always rise, the battle does not end here.”
