After missing the cut in 2019, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang star Johnmar “OhMyV33NUS” Villaluna is elated to finally be part of SIBOL.
Speaking to reporters moments after SIBOL’s Southeast Asian Games campaign kick-off on Thursday, OhMyV33NUS shared that carrying the Philippine flag in international tournaments has always been his dream.
While he has already played in different international tournaments such as the M1 World Championship (with ONIC PH) and the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Southeast Asia Cup and the M3 World Championship (with Blacklist International), representing the country in a prestigious tournament such as the Southeast Asian Games is still a different experience.
“Sobrang happy kasi yun nga, ‘di kami pinalad nung 2019 and pangarap ko rin talaga ma-represent yung Pilipinas internationally,” OhMyV33NUS told reporters.
Back in the 30th SEA Games in Manila, OhMyV33NUS actually had the chance to don the national team tricolors after leading ONIC PH past the qualifiers and into the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang National Team Combine.
Unfortunately, OhMyV33NUS and his squad missed the cut.
Three years later, the 27-year-old support veteran can finally fulfill his dream after his team, Blacklist International, topped the SIBOL 2022 National Team Selection for Mobile Legends: Bang Bang.
OhMyV33NUS will be leading a team mixed with veterans in Danerie “Wise” Del Rosario, Dexter “DEX STAR” Alaba, Salic “Hadji” Imam, along with rookies Howard “Owl” Gonzales, Dominic “Dominic” Soto, and Russel “Eyons” Usi in the Philippines’ title-retention bid in Hanoi, Vietnam.
The Philippines is the defending champion of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang event after defeating Indonesia — a team composed of then recently-crowned world champions EVOS Legends — in the grand finals.
