Choco Mucho’s newcomers Des Cheng, Aduke Ogunsanya, and Isa Molde blended oh-so-well during their debut against Army-Black Mamba on Friday.
And according to Cheng, it was the game she had imagined during their buildup to the 2022 Premier Volleyball League Open Conference.
“Super excited. Actually, ang tagal kasi namin itong hinintay at paghandaan,” said the 25-year-old outside hitter, who had six points in their straight-set win over the Lady Troopers.
Cheng shared that their one-month bubble training in Subic paid dividends.
During that time, Choco Mucho only trained, bonded, and train again.
“Nagstay pa kami sa isang bubble para magjel kasi it’s a new team, new environment,” said the La Salle product. “Good thing talaga na nagkaroon kami ng bubble para magkakilala kami.
“Siguro, pag hindi kami nagbubble siguro sabog kami. Sa game kanina, kahit papano, may lapses but mabilis kami nakarecover because we know each other na.”
Cheng only played the first two sets, Ogunsanya only in the first and third sets, while Molde only the last two sets.
It was Oliver Almadro’s way of giving everyone ample playing time ahead of the grind.
“Konteng chemistry pa. Short tournament at short preparation kasi e,” he said.
“Dun natetest yung isang player on how you adjust sa mga kasama mo at sa sistema.”
Prior to the interview, Cheng and F2 Logistics team manager Hollie Reyes shared a tight hug.
After it, Bea De Leon also had a light moment with Cheng.
“Sobrang clingy ni Bea guys,” she quipped.
Safe to say, she has found a home in Choco Mucho.
