Gilas Women’s Under-16 squad zoomed in the second half, burning Indonesia with a dominant 104-68 win to open their 2022 FIBA Women’s Under-16 Asian Championship-Division B campaign, Friday evening at Prince Hamzah Stadium in Amman, Jordan.
And it was the captains who led the way for the Philippines.
Clovis East High School standout Gabby Ramos had a sensational national team debut, tallying 27 points, 20 rebounds, four assists, four blocks, and two steals. And she did it all in just 25 minutes of action.
Meanwhile, her co-captain Kristan Yumul also had herself a game, firing 20 points built on six treys.
Ramos already tallied a double-double in the first half but Angelica Candra was also going toe-to-toe with her.
At the end of the first half, Gilas held a 45-39 lead.
Holding a 50-45 lead, Gilas went on a blistering 27-7 run to blow the game wide open. Ramos and Yumul with the latter scoring nine.

It was all Gilas from there, extending the lead to 40 points, 103-63, after a Sam Medina bucket with 2:30 remaining.
Naomi Panganiban also got 15 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the foul stripe with eight rebounds, five assists, and a steal.
Ava Fajardo and Kailah Oani chipped in seven points apiece, as well.
Candra led Indonesia with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Erinindita Madafa and Vanissa Siregar got 12 and 11 markers, respectively, as well.
Gilas will next face Syria tomorrow. Syria defeated Samoa earlier in the day, 75-63.
