June Mar Fajardo’s drive a tribute to late mom

To make his mother proud. Simple as that.

June Mar Fajardo shared that the donation project he has pledged to do in the newly-opened PBA Season 47 is in honor of his beloved mom Marites.

“Para sa mama ko ‘yun, hindi para sa akin,” said the six-time Most Valuable Player.

“Gusto ko lang maging proud ‘yung mama ko sa’kin.”

His mother passed away last August, leaving the San Miguel star devastated as she has undeniably been one of the biggest influences in his life.

And Fajardo has always been proud to call himself a ‘Mama’s Boy.’

Now, he’s doing something that will surely make his mom smile up there, vowing to donate P200 for every point he’ll score this season.

He will also be giving P1,000 for each three-pointer that he shoots, as well as P100,000 should the Beermen reach the Finals.

The PBA, for its part, will help him determine the beneficiary of his drive.

His project is off to a good start. On Wednesday, Fajardo finished with 24 points and 15 rebounds to lead SMB to a 108-100 win over Phoenix.

“Alam ko binabantayan niya ako lagi, nafi-feel ko yung presence niya,” said Fajardo.

“Gusto ko lang siya maging proud.”
