The Philippine Super Liga (PSL) is now in talks with GMA Network to be its new broadcast partner.
No less than league chairman Philip Ella Juico revealed as much during the Philippine Sportswriters’ Association Forum Tuesday.
“We have started negotiations with GMA-7 as our new TV partner,” he said.
“We’re starting afresh, and we’re negotiating with them.”
TV5 has been the partner of PSL for the past years, but Juico admitted that there was no reason for them to stay in the network following the departure of Cignal.
Cignal was among the teams who left the league and jumped ship to the Philippine Volleyball League, which turned pro just last year.
Juico, though, insisted that the PSL remains strong despite the string of developments in the past few weeks.
And the proof of that, he said, is the league’s negotiations with Channel 7, which secured the rights of airing the NCAA last year.
