Kobe Paras throws support for Kai Sotto: ‘I will not tolerate any slander’

Kobe Paras went to Twitter to express his support for Kai Sotto.

This as Saturday evening, rumors swirled that the 7-foot-3 Filipino has yet to contact the NBA G League with regards to an Ignite return. Ignite is currently in Orlando, Florida for its season while Sotto has yet to report for the team this year.

“I will not tolerate any Kai Sotto slander.

“Instead of talking bad about him and his handlers, why not wait for the final word? Why not just support him and his dreams no matter what?” read Paras’s tweet.

In many ways, Paras can relate to Sotto.

At the young age of 16 years old, Paras went to the States to finish high school in Cathedral High School and begin his chase for the NBA dream.

The 6-foot-6 winger went to UCLA, Creighton, and Cal State Northridge before deciding to come back home and study and play for University of the Philippines.

Sotto, on the other hand, left Ateneo High School in 2018 to chase the same dream.

After honing his craft with The Skills Factory, he signed with G League Ignite, an elite program by the second league.

However, the 18-year-old did not train with Ignite in Walnut Creek last January as he decided to come back home and play for Gilas in the 2021 FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers. The final window that was set to be played in Doha was postponed due to the on-going pandemic that led to Sotto returning to the States.

Reports have surfaced however that Sotto has yet to talk with the G League brass about a possible return.

For Paras, he is asking for everyone to just support Sotto and wait for any official announcement.

“Most of y’all opinions don’t matter. My guy is 18! How foolish y’all look talking bad about a teen.”
