Blackwater-Phoenix game postponed due to protocols

Only one game will be played on Saturday when the 2021 PBA Philippine Cup resumes at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

The league announced Friday evening that Blackwater’s match with Phoenix has been postponed in accordance with its health and safety protocols.

Match was supposed to be at 2:00 p.m., with the Bossing looking for their first win of the season (0-4) and the Fuel Masters (1-3) keen to get back on track.

No further details were disclosed, although this isn’t the first time that the Dioceldo Sy-owned ball club got involved in a COVID-related situation.

In last year’s Philippine Cup bubble, a Blackwater player was listed as a probable case but was proven otherwise following antigen and RT-PCR re-tests.

Like this time, the identity of that player wasn’t divulged.

Meanwhile, the Meralco-Alaska clash at 4:30 will go on as scheduled.

Both teams are coming off big wins. The Bolts beat the Fuel Masters, 91-80, last Wednesday, the same day the Aces beat Rain or Shine 74-48.
