ONIC PH continued its hot run, spoiling Renejay “Renejay” Barcarse’s Nexplay EVOS return via a 2-0 sweep in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League-Philippines Season Eight, Friday evening.
This is ONIC PH’s third-straight win, claiming the top spot with an immaculate 3-0 record for a league-best nine points.
ONIC PH wasted no time in dispatching Nexplay EVOS in Game One, opening up the series with another masterful performance to take the 1-0 advantage.
Despite having their comfort picks, the boys from Nexplay EVOS failed to get a head start against an aggressive ONIC side. Kairi “Kairi” Rayosdelsol’s Ling was at the center of the storm, already securing three quick kills entering the eight-minute mark.
The two-time MPL second placer then took the Lord in the 10:52-minute mark before ending the match in just 12 minutes and 25 seconds – all thanks to the late backdoor play from Kairi and Marky “Markyyy” Capacio’s Kaja.
Kairi nabbed the SMART 5G MVP award with three kills and five assists without a single death in the 9-3 domination.
“Alam nila mag stick doon sa winning condition namin and yung heroes ng NXP, malakas talaga sila sa early [game]. Pero sa late game, sa amin na yung game,” said ONIC PH head coach Denver “Yeb” Miranda.
Come Game Two, Nexplay EVOS looked to turn its fortunes around by inserting Renejay back to the main five and play in the gold lane.
The team started strong up until the mid-game all thanks to the efforts of Tristan “Yawi” Cabrera’s Khufra – who managed to put up a huge defensive stand for his cores. However, it was not enough. ONIC PH stole the game late, after a crucial pickoff by ONIC PH on Yawi early in the 13-minute mark flipped the game upside down.
Marky “Markyyy” Capacio took down turrets after turrets in the match, giving him the SMART 5G MVP. He had a kill, three deaths, and four assists in the 23:35-minute game.
Nexplay EVOS dropped its third-straight loss to start the season. It falls to a 0-3 hole with just one point at the last spot in the standings.
ONIC PH guns for its fourth consecutive win against TNC on Sunday at 6:00 PM. Meanwhile, Nexplay EVOS looks to bag its first win against Omega Esports at 8:00 PM on the same day.
