KurTzy, ECHO weather late Omega rally, take solo lead in MPL PH

ECHO staved off a late rally from Omega Esports in Game Two, grabbing its second-straight win via a 2-0 sweep for the early lead in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League-Philippines Season Eight, Sunday night.

With the win, ECHO now has a 2-1 record for the top spot with six points.

Through its dominant early game performance, ECHO put up a quick 9-0 lead in the kills department in Game Two.

Omega Esports, who struggled all throughout the match, only got its first kill in the match with Kielvj “Kielvj” Hernandez taking down Christian “Rafflesia” Fajura’s Chou during ECHO’s siege.

From there, the Kings of Southeast Asia prolonged the match for one last chance to salvage the series. But a clash near the Lord pit which ECHO won spelled the difference in Game Two.

Jankurt “KurTzy” Matira’s X.Borg was the SMART 5G MVP with seven kills and five assists without a single death in the 20-7 domination in 12 minutes and 17 seconds.

“Bale po ano, winork out po talaga namin na gagawa kami ng desisyon every time as a team,” shared Benedict “Bennyqt” Gonzales after the win. “Kumbaga walang solo play, iniiwasan namin ‘yung mga solo plays and tiwala lang talaga sa isa’t isa.”

Rafflesia’s Chou impressed once again, helping ECHO outlast Omega in the 13-9 Game One for the 1-0 advantage.

The two-time MPL champion bagged the SMART 5G MVP with a game-high nine assists along with a kill and two deaths in the quick victory, which lasted for 13 minutes and nine seconds.

Omega Esports fell to a 0-2 standing tied with BREN Esports and Nexplay Esports at the last spot.

ECHO looks to make it three in a row against RSG PH on Saturday at 4:00 PM. Meanwhile, Omega Esports will go up against the same squad on Friday at 8:00 PM.
