Cholo Anonuevo has decided to come back home.
The 20-year-old – who trained in the United States for a year – arrived on Wednesday. He has committed to playing for and studying in Far Eastern University starting in the UAAP Season 84 Men’s Basketball Tournament.
Confirming the development to Tiebreaker Times is Cholo’s brother Christian and FEU Athletics Director Mark Molina.
“Yes, Cholo is back,” said Molina.
“He was a big part of our plans before he left and we are happy to welcome him back.”
Anonuevo averaged 9.2 points, 9.3 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 2.0 steals in 27 minutes during his second and final year with the Baby Tamaraws back in Season 82.
Back in July last year, the 6-foot-5 winger went to the US to train under the guidance of East West Private.
Anonuevo went to Dohn Community High School to attend the school’s prep program. He normed 8 points, 8 rebounds, 5.6 assists, and 2.2 steals.
He also wowed during the ING Summer Camp as well.
“Personally, I am happy he got to experience playing in the US,” said Molina.
Also back in August of last year, Anonuevo received an offer from Division I school Tennessee State University. It was not known what the result was.
With the Tamaraws, Anonuevo will join a loaded backcourt that has his former Baby Tams teammates in RJ Abarrientos, LJay Gonzales, Xyrus Torres, and Royce Alforque.
The UAAP is looking to hold Season 84 during the first quarter of 2022.
Since Dohn Prep is a high school, Anonuevo will be eligible for Season 84.
“Yes, he should be eligible for Season 84 since he did not study there,” said the amiable sports director.
