VCT: South Built, Oasis keep playoff hopes alive

It was an all-out brawl in the lower bracket of the playoffs as both South Built Esports and Oasis Gaming needed do-or-die games to keep their hopes alive in the Valorant Champions Tour Philippines Stage 2: Challengers Playoffs on Friday.

Experience prevailed in the elimination Game Three as South Built overpowered Alpha Esports Pro at Split, 13-5.

SBE is waxing hot to start Map Three as they limit AEP to only two round wins in the first half, highlighted by Frederico “PapiChulo” Evangelista’s Cypher who had a quadra-kill while on a two-versus-four man disadvantage.

In the second half, the 10-2 lead built by the gamers from the South was just too much to overcome as Alpha Esports was sent home by South Built.

It was a team effort for the defending Philippines champions as all of their players reached the double-digit kill mark led by Azis “azys” Nandang’s Raze with 19. AEP on the other hand, struggled as four of its five agents had single-digit markers.

Map One was all South Built with a 13-6 win at Fracture before Alpha evened the series in Game Two (Icebox) in a tight 13-10 victory.

In the final bout of the day, Oasis Gaming completed the reverse sweep against Bren Esports in an action-packed, 2-1 series.

After losing in Game One Haven in an underwhelming 5-13 loss, Oasis Gaming started to step on the gas pedal in Map Two at Ascent.

Oasis had two consecutive four-kill to begin the match courtesy of Adrian Jiggs “invy” Reyes (Sova) and Omar Shariff “coco” Lopez (KAY/O).

From there, OAS continued to build momentum as they ended their first half with an eight-point advantage, 10-2.

Bren wasn’t able to get a single round win in the second half as Oasis Gaming capped off a dominating 13-2 win.

None of Bren’s players reached the double-digit kill mark.

Game Three at Breeze was a bit more competitive match but yet again, Oasis were able to stack-up round wins in the first half which gave them an advantage in the endgame to put the nail in the coffin for Bren via a 13-9 scoreline.

invy was the star of the show yet again as he finished with 20 kills and a series-high 16 assists.

Oasis Gaming will face South Built Esports in lower bracket round 2, while both Bren Esports and Alpha Esports Pro are now eliminated from the tournament.
