Pretty Huge is ready to make a statement in its first foray into professional 3×3 basketball.
The multisports and training facility based in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig will parade a crack lineup in the 2022 Thai Super League 3×3 basketball tournament which takes place from June 1-3.
Set to make their 3×3 debuts are PBA free agents Jay Washington and Trevis Jackson. Joining them are Ateneo standout Raffy Verano and American import Marcus Hammonds.
For Pretty Huge head of sports Paolo Layug, 3×3 basketball is the best event they can introduce their product.
“Aside from the opportunity for us to support Filipino basketball, I also feel that 3×3 is a good way for players to learn the game,” said Layug, who is also an assistant coach in College of Saint Benilde.
“I’m very excited for our lineup and am hopeful that we will be competitive.”
Layug can’t wait as well to see how Verano would play outside the confines of Ateneo.
“We are also looking forward to seeing Raffy play,” said Layug.
“He’s a highly intelligent player and by all accounts a conscientious young man.”
Meanwhile, a titan in women’s basketball is also set to return during the tournament.
Over in the women’s side, Discovery Perlas will make its return to Philippine basketball.
The team coached by the legendary Haydee Ong will be composed of Allana Lim, Sai Larosa, Hazelle Yam, and Joan Grajales.
“I think after two years na walang sports kahit sa UAAP everybody is excited and happy to finally play the sport that we all love,” said Ong.
Uratex Dream will also play in its second international tournament after the ABL 3×3 Invitational.
Uratex will still have the country’s top four players Tina Deacon, Kaye Pingol, Alyssa Villamor, and Eunique Chan.
Also competing on the men’s side are the Zamboanga Valientes.
Juan Gomez de Liano reinforces the VisMin Super Cup team and will be joined by Denver Cadiz, Reid Juntilla, and Das Esa.
The men’s tournament is a level six tournament while the women’s games is level four.
