Tots Carlos, Mika Reyes leave lasting impression on KingWhale coach

Creamline’s Tots Carlos and PLDT’s Mika Reyes left a lasting impression on KingWhale head coach Teng Yen-Min.

KingWhale went up against the High Speed Hitters once in the semifinals while facing the Cool Smashers twice in the semis and the finals, respectively.

The PLDT star middle blocker dropped 17 points in a five-set loss to the Taiwanese club while Creamline ace scored a combined 29 points in two matches against KingWhale.PVL-2022-Invitational-Creamline-vs.-Kingwhale-Finals-Teng-Yen-Min-4739 Tots Carlos, Mika Reyes leave lasting impression on KingWhale coach News PVL Volleyball - philippine sports news

“Number three of PLDT (Mika Reyes) and (Tots) Carlos of Creamline,” said Teng through an interpreter when asked about who impressed her the most in their stint in the PVL Invitationals.

“They’re always in my mind. They can’t seem to leave my mind,” she added.

Carlos eventually won her second consecutive Most Valuable Player and Best Opposite spiker awards while Reyes was named as one of the Best Middle Blockers in the tournament.

Teng’s KingWhale, meanwhile, suffered a three-set loss at the hands of the Cool Smashers in the finals last Sunday at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

The Taiwanese coach said that the team missed five players – who are all set to play for the Taiwan national team in the upcoming AVC Cup – in the tournament. Teng, though, insisted that Creamline is the better team in the finale.

“Creamline to begin with is very strong and maybe the timing was off because in Taiwan we’re currently in our resting season, resting period while with Creamline and the Philippine teams, they are currently very active and very strong right now. But it’s a learning experience,” said Teng.

Teng hopes that she can have another shot at the Cool Smashers in the near future.

“This time we’re not complete but I’m really looking forward to playing with Creamline, Cignal, and PLDT once again once we’re complete as a team.”
