Nexplay EVOS handed James “Jeymz” Gloria the perfect birthday gift on Saturday night.
Reeling from a tight 1-2 loss against Blacklist International yesterday, Nexplay EVOS bounced back and vented its ire on TNC, 2-0, for its first win in the MPL Philippines Season 10 at the ICITE Auditorium.
“First of all since yesterday nagkaroon kami ng game sa Blacklist, so parang na-measure na namin kung papaano kami magaadjust,” said Nexplay EVOS head coach Paolo “Pao” Villanueva.
“Siguro tinake lang namin na one game at a time, tinatak namin sa isip namin na best-of-one mindset kahit na best-of-three ‘to. So, we’re really hungry for the win kasi natalo kami yesterday,” he added.
During the first game, Nexplay EVOS built a sizable advantage but had problems in closing out the match after TNC put up a tough defensive wall entering the 15th minute.
The Season Nine third placer was able to fend off the sieging Nexplay EVOS after taking out Jeymz’s Dyroth. However, Mico “Mico” Quitlong (Natalia), who was already recalling in a bush near the serpent pit, saw an opening to finish the match off a backdoor play.
Mico finished with a kill, three deaths, and three assists in the 7-12 Game One win in 14 minutes and 47 seconds while Jeymz had two kills, four deaths, and five assists.
Nexplay EVOS went for the jugular in the second match, completing a four-man wipe entering the 20th minute before eventually taking down Robee “Yasuwo” Pormocille’s Wanwan inside TNC’s base to bag the sweep.
Mariusz “Donut” Tan popped off on his Beatrix and notched 12 kills and five assists against two deaths in the 20-11 Game Two win which lasted for 20 minutes and 25 seconds.
Nexplay EVOS will take on ONIC PH on Saturday at 4:00 PM while TNC will fight Bren Esports tomorrow, Sunday at 6:00 PM.
