Ginebra staved off Platinum Karaoke, 22-19, to complete the PBA 3×3 Second Conference Grand Finals quarters cast, Wednesday at Ynares Sports Arena.
Jayson David powered the Gin Kings with eight points, none bigger than his elbow jumper with 1:10 left to conclude a thrilling opening salvo to begin the finale’s resumption following a fire incident a week ago at SMART Araneta.
Encho Serrano produced six points, Jollo Go supplied five, as Dennice Villamor added three as the Barangay swept its way to the top of Pool B at 2-0.
Ginebra has therefore set a quarterfinal meeting with San Miguel later today in a rematch of the Leg 2 final, which the latter won for its first 3×3 crown.
Platinum, on the other hand, was led by Chris De Chavez’s 10 points, including big triples that helped turn a five-point deficit to a 16-14 lead. But they could not take care of that advantage, no thanks to David and Serrano.
Ael Banal had five points, while Yutien Andrada and Ryan Monteclaro combined for four points in the loss that booted them out of contention.
Their loss, though, is Terrafirma’s gain, as the Dyip clinched the second spot in the pool with a 1-1 record. They will meet TNT in the quarters.
The other QF brackets will see top seed Limitless App take on Pioneer Pro Tibay, then Meralco versus SIsta later in the day.
The Scores:
Ginebra 22 – David 8, Serrano 6, Go 5, Villamor 3
Platinum 19 – De Chavez 10, Banal 5, Andrada 2, Monteclaro 2
