PBA adjusts draft application deadline to May 7

The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) has decided to extend the deadline for the submission of applications for the Season 47 Rookie Draft.

Instead of May 2, 2022, applicants may still join the Draft until May 7.

The deadline adjustment should bode well for applicants coming from the UAAP, since the league’s Final Four ends on May 6. However, if tiebreakers take place, it would be hard for student-athletes in top four teams to give their application.

Some of the super seniors in the UAAP include Justine Baltazar, Ricci Rivero, and Shaun Ildefonso.

The draft proceedings are set on May 15.

Local applicants need only to submit a copy of their birth certificates, while Fil-foreign players are just required to submit a valid passport.

Fil-fors no longer need to acquire and pass the Bureau of Immigration Certificate of Recognition and the Department of Justice’s Affirmation.

The league’s relaxation of eligibility rules has allowed Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser to throw his name just recently after being disqualified last time.

Jeremiah Gray could also join this year’s draft after facing the very same documentation problem he and some Fil-fors encountered last year.

The draft is open to players who are 22 years old and above, or 19 years of age with a minimum of two years of college education.
