NLEX will not enter any trade, to focus more on PBA Draft, assures Guiao

NLEX will not be making any movements outside of re-signing their players.

This was the assurance made by Road Warriors head coach Yeng Guiao.

The decorated tactician though admitted that other teams had called NLEX regardings a trade but had to turn them down.

“Ayaw namin entertain muna,” said Guiao.

Right before their PBA bubble campaign ended, the Road Warriors had re-upped Kiefer Ravena and Kevin Alas to three-year, max deals.

Also re-signed by NLEX were Jericho Cruz, JR Quinahan, Raul Soyud, Mike Miranda, and Kenneth Ighalo. Also given extensions were Kris Porter, Paul Varilla, Will McAloney, Kyles Lao, and Philip Paniamogan.

Anthony Semerad and Mike Ayonayon are still in contract.

With this, Guiao and his staff are focusing on the upcoming 2021 PBA Draft set on March 14. The Road Warriors own the no. 3 and 4 picks in the first round and, as well as, the 20th overall pick in the deep draft class.

“Malabo yun, hindi natin bibitawan first round picks natin,” said Guiao.

“Gusto kong i-preserve yung three and four picks namin.”

Some of the names that have popped up that NLEX will pick are the likes of Calvin Oftana, William Navarro, Alvin Pasaol, Santi Santillan, Larry Muyang, Ben Adamos, Taylor Statham, and Mikey Williams. But for Guiao, he will wait for the final list of eligible draftees before making a decision.

“It’s useless to decide if madami pang uncertainties.”
