VCT APAC: Last PH team South Built bows out after thriller vs BOOM

By: Paolo R. Trinidad

The last Filipino team in the tournament, South Built Esports, has kissed its VALORANT Champions Tour Asia-Pacific Stage 1: Challengers Playoffs hopes goodbye after being on the wrong end of a thriller against BOOM Esports, 2-1, Friday night.

After a close contested Map One defeat, the Philippines Champions forced a do-or-die game number three following a Map Two win at Haven with a 13-5 scoreline.

Chris “Pro” Martir’s Sova showed the Indonesians why Haven is their forte, ending the half with a two-versus-one clutch that gave SBE a huge 10-2 lead.

BOOM Esports tried to steal a few rounds from South Built with a 3-1 run which forced SBE into an eco round in the 17th frame.

Come Round 17, the gamers from the south had a miraculous thrifty round, only using pistols to steal the round away from BME. That crucial round brought South Built to within match point and eventually closing Map Two the following round.

Azis “azys” Nandang (Jett) finished with 25 kills and 371 Average Combat Score.

The Indonesia Challengers Champions looked dominant in Game Three at Ascent with an 8-1 run. SBE struggled round after round as they just can’t execute their plays to enter the site.

The Filipinos started off a mini-run midway through the match to be within four, 5-9. That, however, was the last for SBE as BOOM Esports took away South Built Valorant Masters hopes. 13-6 for BME.

BOOM Esports survived the 9-3 curse scare from South Built as they took the first game at Breeze with a tight 13-10 victory.

With the lead as many as six in the first half, South Built crawled their way back to the ball game with a 6-2 run. Unfortunately, the lead was just too much as BOOM denied the comeback in round 23.
