Omega Esports broke its four-game losing streak via a 2-0 win over Nexplay EVOS to pump life to its playoff campaign in the MPL Philippines Season Nine on Saturday night.
The SMART-backed squad moved up to the sixth spot — overtaking Blacklist International and Bren Esports — with 13 points off a 4-8 win-loss slate.
Dean “Raizen” Sumagui’s Paquito overwhelmed Nexplay EVOS as Omega Esports took a rousing 17-9 Game One victory in 18 minutes and 17 seconds of action.
Raizen recorded a game-high 10 kills to go along with four assists without a death in the contest while Renz “Renzio” Cadua’s Dyroth had five kills, two deaths, and four assists for Omega Esports.
After taking the first Lord of the contest, Omega Esports wiped all but two of Nexplay EVOS’ turrets to completely take over the match. Smart positioning coming from Joshua “Ch4knu” Mangilog’s Hilda also prevented Renejay “Renejay” Barcarse’s Chou to set up plays for Nexplay EVOS which proved to be one of the key factors in Omega Esports’ win.
From there, Omega Esports founded an almost 7K gold advantage before a three-man wipe past the 18th minute ended the match.
Omega Esports completed the sweep with a 13-2 stomp in Game Two in just 12 minutes and nine seconds of action.
Starring in the win is Renz “Renzio” Cadua’s Dyroth with four kills and six assists without a single death. Raizen, meanwhile, continued his consistent play on Paquito with six kills, two deaths, and three assists.
Nexplay EVOS is still at the fifth spot with 16 points and a 5-7 record.
Omega Esports will face Bren Esports in a crucial match on Friday at 6:00 PM. On the other hand, Nexplay EVOS will return on Saturday to take on TNC at 4:00 PM.
