Nothing can stop James De Los Santos — not even a below 100-percent self.
The 30-year-old veteran internationalist bucked health problems to pocket his 23rd gold in the ongoing SportData E-Kata World Series, with a win in the Golden League Karate eTournament #3. Results came out on Tuesday.
“I admit I was feeling under the weather during this Finals, but I still performed and ended with my 23rd gold,” the world top e-kata male karateka shared on his Facebook post on the win.
De Los Santos drew a bye for the quarterfinals. He then moved to the gold medal contest after dominating Swiss Matias Moreno-Domont in the semifinals.
The Filipino scored a 25.4 in Sansai over the 23.9 of Suparinpei of the latter.
After narrowly beating Alfredo Bustamante in their most recent meeting in a championship match, the two-time ISKF world champion pulled off a more convincing gap. He had a 25.7 in Unsu over the American’s 24.3, also with Suparinpei.
