Believe it or not, there was actually a time that BREN Esports dominated the Mobile Legends international scene.
Bannered by the fabled Aether Main core, BREN Esports wreaked havoc in the region during the game’s infancy and won numerous titles abroad such as the Mobile Legends Southeast Asia Cup, Southeast Asia Cyber Arena, and the Challenger Summit.
However, the BREN dynasty soon saw its end after multiple disappointing outings in the local scene.
After consecutive bridesmaid finishes in the second and third seasons of the MPL-Philippines, BREN Esports reached rock bottom after a 5th-6th place finish in season four.
Through a massive roster overhaul, BREN Esports finally reclaimed the throne and won the MPL-Philippines season six title.
Now, BREN Esports is looking to take back the international stage come the ONE Esports Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Invitational.
Solidifying the core
Looking to go all out in the MPL Invitational, BREN Esports decided to rest two of its veterans Allan “Lusty” Castromayor and CJ “Ribo” Ribo in their on-going The Nationals campaign.
Lusty was not included in the final lineup while Ribo only played in two series as of writing.
This also gave sixth man Efphraim “Ejhay” Sambrano the chance to work on his chemistry with cores Karl Gabriel “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno and David Charles “FlapTzy” Canon.
Spearheading the charge for BREN Esports will be team captain Angelo Kyle “Pheww” Arcangel.
On-standby
BREN Esports made interesting moves in the MPL Invitational champion’s draft, pitting the Aura and ONIC franchises against one another in the opening round in bracket B.
BREN coach Francis “Duckeyyy” Glindro admitted later on that there’s really no explanation with the pattern of his draft, saying that he ‘just wanted to troll.’ But in all seriousness, this could actually be the perfect scenario for the Bernard Chong-owned franchise.
For the past two seasons of the MPL-Philippines, Aura PH and ONIC PH has been the one-two punch of the league. And possibly beating either of them on a big stage like this will only solidify BREN’s dominance in the Philippine Mobile Legends scene.
With KarlTzy playing in the prime of his career, even their Indonesian counterparts will surely have a hard time taking a game against the MPL-Philippines season six champion.
Chemistry will definitely not be a problem for BREN Esports. Also, playing against the best in the region is nothing new to this squad composed of Southeast Asian Games gold medalists.
Without a doubt, BREN Esports road to the grand finals will be a walk in the park. But despite that, don’t expect this team to hold punches against their opponents.
After all, this could be a preview of BREN Esports’ ultimate goal — the M2 World Championships.
BREN Esports will be shouting #BRENLangMalakas in the ONE Esports MPL Invitational which will open this November 27, Friday.
