Execration pulled off another massive upset, this time taking down OB Esports x Neon via a reverse 2-1 sweep in the Dota Pro Circuit 2021: Season Two-Southeast Asia upper division, Saturday evening.
This is Execration’s third-straight victory, picking up huge upsets against Southeast Asia powerhouse Fnatic and Smart Omega Esports, respectively, after dropping its first two assignments of the season.
Execration is now tied with BOOM Esports at the second spot with identical 3-2 win-loss standings.
Yuri “Yowe” Pacana’s Bristlebackk took charge in the crucial Game Three, registering 11 kills and 15 assists against just two deaths in the 32-26 win to bag the series for Execration.
Execration carry Jinn “Palos” Lamatao backstopped his midlaner with 10 kills, six deaths, and nine assists playing Morphling while Nikko “Nikko” Bilacura’s Dark Seer dished out a game-high 22 assists laced with four kills in six deaths in the 45:59-minute.
The squad went on an uncontested Roshan take near the 44-minute mark with the Aegis going to Palos and the Cheese to Yowe.
OB.Neon initiated a clash at the top lane jungle, but was later forced to call GG after Yowe and Don Carlo “BDz” Manalo’s Earth Spirit took out four of their men.
On the other hand, John Anthony “Natsumi-“ Vargas’ 13-4-9 outing with Io went down the drain as OB.Neon rising star Erin “Yopaj” Ferrer struggled all throughout Game Three with his Beastmaster.
“We’re very confident with our heroes, the moment we picked those and as Abeng said, we just have to keep it cool and treat it as a pub game or something. He motivates us,” said Nikko in the post-match interview.
OB.Neon, through spectacular performances from Natsumi-‘s Spectre and Gabriel ‘Skem” Ong’s Treant Protecter, took a 33-20 Game One win to draw first blood. But a monster Morphling from Palos carried Execration in Game Two to send the series to a rubber match.
OB.Neon, the team who placed sixth in the recent ONE Esports Singapore Major, is now at the seventh spot with a 1-2 record.
Execration will next face Carlo “Kuku” Palad’s T1 on Saturday, May 8 while OB Esports x Neon will bounce back against Smart Omega Esports on Wednesday.
