Aura PH rebrands to Echo as Jaypee retires

From orange to blue.

After representing a foreign squad for the past two seasons, the core of Aura PH will now carry the banner of Filipino organization Echo in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League-Philippines Season Eight, the organization made its announcement on Tuesday night.

Holdovers Christian “Rafflesia” Fajura, Benedict “Bennyqt” Gonzales, and Mark “Hadess” Lazaro will be reinforced by MPL veterans Jankurt “KurTzy” Matira and Jay “Jaymeister” Torculas for the upcoming franchise-based season.

Former Laus Playbook Esports jungler Joshua “Aspect” Tating, former BNK Blufire Aaron “AaronQT” Lim, and Dota 2 veteran Kenneth “FlySolo” Coloma are the newest additions to the roster, as well as rookies RK3 and Invoker.

Decorated tactician Steven “Dale” Vitug will be the coach of the MPL squad. Meanwhile, championship-winning coach Michael “Arcadia” Bocado will head the organization’s esports teams as its head coach.

On the other hand, two-time MPL champion Jaypee “Jaypee” Dela Cruz has officially retired from the MPL as confirmed by Echo Esports general manager Mitch Liwanag. Ashley “Killuash” Cruz will sit out the season according to a report from Manila Bulletin.

On the other hand, former Aura PH support Allen “Greed” Baloy has bolted to ONIC PH.

Aura PH showed flashes of brilliance in the previous season, topping the powerhouse Group A with a 9-4 record. However, the team’s cracks showed in the playoffs. They settled for a third-place finish after consecutive losses to Blacklist International and Execration in the upper bracket and lower bracket finals, respectively.

Echo has no affiliation with the Echo Esports squad in Indonesia.
