BACARRA, ILOCOS NORTE — Myla Pablo lamented Petro Gazz’s lack of communication in the heart-breaking Game One loss against Creamline in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference semifinals on Sunday.
The Angels were armed with a 2-1 advantage but surrendered the fourth set to the surging Cool Smashers.
Still, Petro Gazz had one last chance in the fifth set. However, the Angels that played in the decider looked nothing like the Angels in the opener.
“Hindi lang din talaga kami nagkaintindihan talaga nung fifth set. And then siguro hindi namin naisip na hanggang 15 lang pala ‘tong fifth na ‘to.
“Iniisip talaga namin na maglaro na lang as a team kung palalarin kami, thank God. Kung hindi, babawi na lang kami sa next game,” shared Pablo after the five-set, 29-27, 23-25, 25-16, 17-25, 14-6 loss to Creamline.
Pablo’s conference-best 26 points went for naught as the Angels failed to sustain their hot start.
“Sayang talaga ‘yung game, pero at least lumaban din kami.
“Alam din naman namin na hindi bibitawan ng Creamline ‘tong game na ‘to. Sabi nga ng coaches namin, itong fifth set na ‘to, patibayan talaga,” bared Pablo.
The two-time PVL Conference MVP also shared that the team felt rattled when Creamline opened the decider with guns blazing.
By the time the team finally regained composure through successive hits from Remy Palma, it was already too late. The Tots Carlos-led Cool Smashers buried them late.
“Siguro mas gusto lang talaga manalo ng Creamline ng fifth set. So kami naman, parang na-rattle na rin siguro kami dahil ang dami naming mga error. May mga receive na nagkaka-misunderstanding,” rued Pablo.
Now a game away from elimination, Pablo promised to give everything she has so the Angels live to fight another day.
“Sa Game Two namin tomorrow… So wala na ngang training talaga, so siguro kung ano ‘man ‘yung nilaro namin this game na ‘to, kailangan talaga mas pukpok pa sa loob ng court tomorrow kasi crucial game eh. Ibibigay namin ‘yung best namin.”
