Meralco extends Hugnatan, Baclao, Jamito for Season 46

Meralco has its frontline built for the 46th season of the PBA.

Tops on the Bolts’ priorities was giving its eldest statesman Reynel Hugnatan another extension.

Hugnatan, the longest-tenured player in the Meralco franchise, was rewarded an extension after averaging 12.0 points, 4.33 rebounds, and 2.33 assists during the PBA’s bubble season.

“It’s a fitting reward to his contribution, especially after what he did in the recent Bubble tournament,” Bolts team manager Paolo Trillo told PBA.ph about Hugnatan, who is turning 43 on November 3.

“We’re excited to have him back.”

Hugnatan is one of the nominees for the Most Improved Player award.

Also given one-year extensions were 6-foot-5 Jammer Jamito and 6-foot-5 Noy Baclao.

Jamito, 31, normed 5.0 points and 3.89 rebounds in nine games played during the 2020 Philippine Cup.

On the other hand, Baclao, 33, was picked up by the Bolts as a free agent back in April. The Ateneo product did not play a single game last season as he was still recovering from a ruptured patellar tendon.

Jamito and Baclao signed their contracts at Starbucks in Corinthian Hills in Quezon City.
