The Filipino dream is alive.
BREN Esports survived a massive scare from Todak with a reverse 2-1 sweep in the M2 World Championship lower bracket playoffs at the Shangri-La Hotel in Singapore, Saturday.
The MPL-Philippines champion will be going up once again against rival Alter Ego this time in the best-of-five lower bracket semifinals later in the day.
“Sa mga fans namin, nandito pa rin tayo buhay pa rin. BREN lang malakas, suportahan niyo lang kami,” said BREN Esports team captain Pheww.
Despite getting the Lancelot for KarlTzy as early as the first phase of the draft, BREN Esports could not capitalize as they succumbed to a tank-based lineup by Todak in the opener.
But after the crushing Game One defeat, FlapTzy’s Yu Zhong carried BREN Esports on his back to force a deciding Game Three.
The 16-year-old super rookie was named MVP in Game Two. He provided eight kills and six assists with zero deaths while also providing BREN Esports its much-needed reinforcement at the front line.
Meanwhile, KarlTzy’s Claude proved to be the answer for Todak’s four-tank composition which they used in the first two games. The M2 Group Stage MVP supplied the bulk of the damage, finishing with two kills, a death, and 13 assists.
Pheww (Selena) had four kills, a death, and seven assists while Lusty put up a nostalgic Grock performance with 10 assists against two deaths.
4Meyz (Hayabusa) led Todak in Game Two with two kills, three deaths, and an assist.
BREN Esports then put on the exclamation mark come Game Three with Lusty’s Atlas leading the three-mage composition of KarlTzy (Harley), Ribo (Pharsa), and Pheww (Selena).
The former top-ranked Atlas in the world flexed his playmaking abilities, dishing out a game-high 16 assists laced with three kills en route to the MVP award.
KarlTzy provided 10 kills, three deaths, and nine assists while FlapTzy’s Benedetta had a clean 6-0-7 line.
On the other hand, Ciku was the lone bright spot for Todak with three kills, three deaths, and an assist.
Game Three lasted for 12 minutes and 39 seconds.
The BREN Esports-Alter Ego will be played later at 7:45 pm. Meanwhile, Todak, who finished M1 at third place, settled for a fifth-sixth place finish with Filipino squad Smart Omega Esports.
