After a rousing season opener, Execration came crashing down after a 0-2 sweep from Fnatic in the Dota Pro Circuit 2021: S1-Southeast Asia Upper Division last Wednesday.
Execration dropped to a tie with TNC Preator, who won against Vice Esports via a 2-0 sweep, in the fourth spot with a 1-1 standing. Meanwhile, Fnatic is now in the top spot with NEON Esports, carrying identical 2-0 records.
Fnatic’s Filipino 1-2 punch of Polo “Raven” Fausto and Djardel B. “DJ” Mampusti spearheaded the tight Game One victory. The former tallied nine kills, two deaths, and 22 assists with his carry Monkey King. On the other hand, the latter had two kills and 24 assists against five deaths with his support Clockwerk.
The Malaysia-based organization was able to wipe Yuri Dave “Yowe” Pacaña (Troll Warlord), Glenard Lei “Rupido” Rugay (Mars), and Argle “Ken” Llesis (Void Spirit) off the map in the siege entering the 38-minute mark of the match to finish off Game One.
Ken was the lone bright spot for the all-Filipino Execration team in Game One with nine kills, five deaths, and 12 assists. Yowe was held to just six kills and 14 assists against five deaths.
Fnatic amped it up in Game Two, dominating Execration with a 36-13 stomp under 29 minutes to finish the series via sweep.
Raven once again led the charge with 12 kills and 11 assists laced with just one death playing IO while offlaner Natthaphon “Masaros” Ouanphakdee added 10 kills, a death, and 18 assists playing Batrider.
DJ scored a game-high 22 assists along with a kill and four deaths using Brew Master.
Ken had seven kills and two assists against eight deaths playing Queen of Pain. On the other hand, Yowe saw his Juggernaut limited to just a kill, six deaths, and two assists.
Execration will face Vice Esports, while Fnatic’s next assignment will be BOOM Esports on February 3, Wednesday.
