CSB Blazer Clement Leutcheu, 25, passes away

A Taft tower has passed away.

Former College of Saint Benilde foreign student-athlete Clement Leutcheu (April 19, 1995-February 6, 2021) died due to cardiac arrest, Saturday morning.

He was just 25 years old.

Leutcheu, a 6-foot-7 Cameroonian, had been the Blazers’ rock in the National Collegiate Athletic Association from Season 92 to 95.

Though Saint Benilde never made the Final Four during his stay there, he was one of the team’s leaders, always competing hard.

“He may not be the best athlete but he’s got the purest of heart. All he cares about is for the world, for the people especially the ones around him, and for him to be better everyday,” said Blazers head coach TY Tang as he paid tribute to his big man.

“He carries that positivity and shares it to everyone around him.”

In his final year, Leutcheu averaged 6.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game.

During Season 95, the league honored Leutcheu and the final batch of foreign student-athletes who competed in the league during its awarding ceremony.

Leutcheu had just finished his undergraduate degree with Saint Benilde last year.

Leutcheu is survived by his family in Cameroon.
