Mikey Williams feels Pringle comparisons are just about right

The comparisons between Stanley Pringle and Mikey Williams have started to pop up in the lead-up to the 2021 PBA Rookie Draft.

But for Williams, who is a product of NCAA Division I school Cal State Fullerton, it’s a challenge he is taking head on.

Stanley Pringle’s a great player, and you know what he brings to the table. He’s a walking bucket. I feel like I can do the same thing, but I just have to let my game do the talking,” the 6-foot-2 Williams told Power & Play.

Williams has played all over the world.

Besides stints with Saigon Heat and Mighty Sports, the 29-year-old dynamo also played in the G League for Sioux Falls from 2014-15 and Canton from 2016-18.

And now he assures that he has all the papers he needs to join Asia’s first-ever pay-for-play league.

My papers are good to go.

“Just trying to coordinate back and forth with my agent Marvin [Espiritu] and the paralegal that I have. It’s just been a long process. Took a long time to finish the process,” he bared.

Asked by host Noli Eala about which team he wants to play for, Williams then shared his wish.

“I wanna play for the team that won the most,” shared Williams, clearly referring to San Miguel.

But his good pal Taylor Statham knows that whoever picks Williams will get a catch.

“He is one of the few guys in the draft that will make an immediate impact.

“He is a proven winner and played in the G League. He has the most experience than most of the PBA, [so] he won’t make that much of an adjustment,” said Statham, himself also hoping to join the PBA Draft set on March 14.

Just like Pringle in 2014.
