Miguel Oczon has finally decided where he will settle.
The former National University guard is heading to College of Saint Benilde.
Blazers head coach TY Tang confirmed the development to Tiebreaker Times.
“Migs is a two-way player – he can shoot from outside and can play good individual defense,” said Tang about the addition of Oczon.
“We like how he approaches the game as he let[s] his actions speak when he plays. It’s always good to add a competitor in our team.”
Oczon – a 20-year-old, 6-foot guard – left NU last October.
Some of the teams he was looking at include San Beda, Lyceum, and Far Eastern University.
“Feel ko kasi sa CSB ako mas maggro-grow more not only as a basketball player, but as a person na din,” said the native of Davao City.
At the end of the day, it also helped that his former Gilas Youth coach Charles Tiu is with the Blazers.
“May influence din naman po ‘yun na nagkasama na po kami ni Coach Charles sa Batang Gilas. May idea na din po siya kung ano ako as a player, and medyo naging familiar na po ako sa kanya as a coach,” said Oczon, a FIBA Under-19 World Cuper.
In his only season with NU, Oczon averaged 19 minutes a game with numbers of 4.14 points and 2.14 rebounds.
Oczon is the second high profile transfer CSB got this off-season with Will Gozum being the first last year.
