Mobile Legends veteran Cj “Ribo” Ribo has been BREN Esports’ most loyal soldier ever since their entry into the MPL-Philippines back in 2018.
That is why BREN Esports owner Bernard “Bren” Chong only has kinds words for the versatile sideliner, who recently became the winningest Mobile Legends player in history.
“Ribo has been part of the BREN Esports ML Team since we expanded to Mobile Legends,” said Chong in an exclusive interview with Tiebreaker Times.
“He is an integral part of our success because of his experience with the game and his leadership with our roster.”
The 24-year-old sideliner was part of the iconic Aether Main squad that won the inaugural MPL-Philippines title, which BREN Esports acquired together with original members Mico “Coco” Sampang, Renz “Pein” Reyes, Jeniel “YellyHaze” Bata-anon, Yuji “Yuji” Aizawa, and Matthew “666” Mandilag for the following season.
BREN Esports made two grand finals appearances in Seasons Two and Three only to lose to archrival Cignal Ultra and ArkAngel, respectively. That then led to departures of Pein and 666 come the league’s fourth installment.
What followed turned out to be the biggest hurdle in BREN Esports’ campaign in the major league. With the chemistry slowly crumbling, BREN Esports suffered its franchise-worst fourth-to-sixth place finish – marking the first time that the BREN franchise fell out of the top two.
Even with the losses piling up, Ribo continued to soldier on for BREN Esports as he looks to fulfill his promise of bringing a title to the organization that believed in him right from the very start. He even recruited his Sibol national team teammates Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno, Allan “Lusty” Castromayor, and Angelo “Pheww” Arcangel to give BREN Esports another lease on life comes MPL-Philippines Season Five.
After a heart-breaking Season Five, Ribo was able to lead BREN Esports to the promised land and claim the title in Season Six which was followed by a historical world title for BREN Esports at the expense of the Burmese Ghouls in the M2 World Championship.
By now, Ribo cemented his legacy as the most decorated player in the history of the Mobile Legends competitive scene. He now is now the only player to win a world title, a Southeast Asian Games gold medal, a Mobile Legends Southeast Asia Cup championship, and an MPL trophy.
Ribo also won international titles in the Southeast Asia Cyber Arena, the Challenger Summit, and the Razer Southeast Asia Invitational aside from winning the inaugural MPL-Philippines championship, before following it up with another one come Season Six.
He currently holds the league record for finals appearances with four. The pride of Imus, Cavite is also the only player in league history to play all five positions.
And Chong can’t wait for Ribo to continue writing his legacy with BREN.
