Former South Korean national team star Cho Sang-hyun has been named by the Korea Basketball Association as its new head coach, Thursday morning.
In a report by Jump Ball, Cho was named as the chief tactician and Kim Dong-woo as assistant after a thorough deliberation by the KBA’s board of directors.
Last April, a competition was held between coaches that had Cho and Kim compete against the duos of Kim Jin-Kim Young-man and Chu Il-seung-Kim Do-soo.
Cho is still very young as he is just 44 years old.
He played professionally from 1998-2013, suiting up for Gwangju, Chengju, KTF, and Goyang.
Cho was also part of the South Korean team that won silver in the 1999 FIBA Asia Cup and gold in the 2002 Asian Games.
Cho served as an assistant to Kim Sang-Shik, whose contract expired last March 31.
He will make his debut in the 2021 FIBA Asia Cup Clark window that will see them take on Gilas twice and Indonesia from June 16-20.
