Just a week and a half away from the 2023 FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers’ Quezon City window, another Gilas pool player has suffered an injury.
Jayson Castro hurt his shoulder during TNT’s 2021-22 PBA Governors’ Cup game against San Miguel, Wednesday evening at the SMART Araneta Coliseum.
The injury occurred with 6:52 left in the game and the Tropang Giga up 77-66. During a box-out situation, Castro’s right shoulder tangled with Vic Manuel.
The two-time FIBA Asia team member grimaced in pain afterward and asked for a substitution.
Initial diagnosis reported that Castro suffered a muscle contusion.
Of course, it’s a scary sight to see another Gilas pool member getting hurt before their February 24 game against South Korea.
Poy Erram, meanwhile, has returned to action after hurting his back last Friday.
