Remy Martin still has imprint in Kansas’ games despite injury

Remy Martin has missed the last five games of Kansas due to a bone bruise in his right knee.

Despite sitting out games, the 6-foot Filipino-American floor general is still doing his part for the Jayhawks.

“He’s the best on the bench,” said legendary Kansas head coach Bill Self on Hawk Talk.

“He’s great.”

Martin played for four years with Arizona prior to transferring to Kansas.

And he has made sure to share all his experiences with the young Jayhawks.

“I said, ‘I’m proud of you because you found a way to put your handprint on what we’re doing and not be out there,” he continued.

“That’s hard for athletes to do, to find your own niche.”

In 17 games played so far, Martin is averaging 8.2 points and 2.9 assists per game.

With regards to Martin’s return, Self bared that he remains day-to-day.

“I really don’t know more other than the fact that, as of yesterday, he told me that he was definitely feeling better and he’s doing more on the court, one-on-zero, and maybe could get into some type of practices sometime soon,” he said.

“I still don’t see an immediate return for him.”
