PBA: Mike Harris drops 41 vs TNT as Magnolia takes solo lead

Magnolia withstood TNT, 96-93, to remain unbeaten in the 2021-22 PBA Governors’ Cup, Friday evening at the SMART Araneta Coliseum.

Mike Harris turned in a monster performance with 41 points and 18 rebounds as the Hotshots regained sole leadership of the standings at 4-0.

Magnolia actually opened the game with a rousing 21-4 start, but had to rely on a bit of luck to escape the injury-riddled Tropang Giga.

TNT, after being down by as much as 19 points, seized the lead briefly in the final period and threatened the opposition in the final moments.

Kib Montalbo put the Tropa to within one with 48.4 seconds left but Ian Sangalang, Paul Lee, and Mark Barroca were there to stop them via free throws.

It also didn’t help the Texters’ cause that Mikey Williams missed a freebie and turned the ball over with 19 ticks left as he tripped on his own.

He managed to cut the lead to just two later on, but Harris was sent on the line. The former Best Import missed both, but he managed to pull down his own miss as Magnolia walked away with the narrow win.
