For his four-year service to his school, Filipino-American Remy Martin was honored by Arizona State University.
The 22-year-old floor general was bestowed with the Bill Kajikawa Award award last Wednesday.
The Bill Kajikawa Award s annually presented to one male and one female (two this year due to a tie in the voting) graduating senior student-athlete in recognition for his and her contributions at Arizona State University in honor of legendary Sun Devil Bill Kajikawa.
Sun Devil Athletics selects the Kajikawa Award recipients based on demonstrated academic excellence, athletic accomplishment, leadership and service in the community.
Martin, who will graduate with a degree in BS Sociology, earned All-Pac-12 first-team honors in 2020-21 and 2019-20 and was a second-team pick in 2018-19.
He led The Sun Devils to three straight 20-win seasons (2017-20) and back-to-back NCAA Tournaments in 2018 and 2019 for the first-time since 1980 and 1981.
Martin was the league’s co-Sixth Man of the Year in his freshman season.
Martin finished his career on the ASU charts sixth in points (1,754), second in assists (466), 10th in field goals (591), third in free throws made (396), and eighth in steals (151).
During his senior year, Martin averaged 19.1 points, 3.7 assists, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.2 steals per game.
Martin shared the award with Cairo Leonard-Baker from gymnastics and Olivia Mehaffey from women’s golf.
