Thirdy Ravena will get a chance to settle some unfinished business with San-En NeoPheonix.
San-En has announced that it has re-upped Ravena’s contract for “multiple” B.League seasons.
“San-en Neo-Phoenix has signed a multi-year contract with Thirdy Ravena.
“He brought overwhelming power and a bright future to our club. As a result, I don’t think I was satisfied, but he adapted to life in Japan and as a professional player. There are only great expectations for his further growth with our team,” said Kenjiro Hongo, President and CEO of NeoPhoenix.
“It is wonderful that San-en Neo-Phoenix has signed a multi-year contract with Thirdy Ravena, who will be the central figure of the Philippine national team in the World Cup,” added general manager Hideki Higashi.
“His aggressive play is something no one else can imitate. I am confident that his aggressive play will be a problem for years to come, leading the team to victory.”
During his first year with San-En, the three-time UAAP Finals MVP from Ateneo only played in 18 games for San-En. He averaged 9.1 points, 3.6 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 0.7 steals, and 0.2 blocks per game.
It was an injury-ridden campaign for Ravena, who suffered numerous setbacks, including a bout with COVID-19.
“I just want to thank the NeoPhoenix organization for the trust and support they’ve given ever since I got here. It was indeed a tough time for me last season, having to miss a lot of games and not being able to help the team as much as I wanted to,” lamented Ravena.
“But despite that, it was all love from the NeoPhoenix organization which was why it was not hard for me to make this decision.”
San-En ended its campaign with a 12-47 record — a campaign that saw numerous injuries not just to Ravena, but also their other imports.
NeoPhoenix plans to rebuild around Ravena for the upcoming season.
“We will continue to build a new culture with a team centered on Ravena and strive to become a champion,” said Hongo.
This means that Ravena will not be playing in the PBA for the foreseeable future.
