ALCANTARA, CEBU – The brightest of stars come out in the biggest of stages.
That is what Ping Exciminiano did in KCS Computer Specialist-Mandaue’s three-game series against top seed MJAS Zenith-Talisay, as he was named as the 2021 Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas VisMin Super Cup-Visayas Finals Most Valuable Player at the Civic Center here.
Exciminiano, 32, averaged 13.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 3.0 steals in the Finals after norming just 5.6 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in the elimination round.
His best performance though came during the winner-take-all tilt Sunday evening that saw him finish with a statline of 15 points, five rebounds, and three assists to lead KCS-Mandaue to an 89-75 win to rule the leg.
“Nagtiwala lang kami sa sarili na kaya namin. Nagtiwala kami kay Coach at sa Panginoon na kaya namin,” said the seven-year pro.
It was the perfect redemption for Exciminiano who tore his Achilles early last year due to a panalay game and was nursing a hamstring injury in the first round.
“Sobrang blessed ako, after all na nangyari sa akin, nagka-injury ako dito at Achilles injury ako last year, nagpapasalamat ako na napunta ako sa ganitong situwasyon,” he said.
