Ateneo blasts USC, sets up DLSU showdown in AcadArena Valorant finals

Ateneo de Manila University remained undefeated in the playoffs after sweeping University of San Carlos, 2-0, in the AcadArena University Alliance Cup semifinals, Sunday evening.

With the victory, LG Esports will face reigning champion De La Salle University Viridis Arcus in the grand finals.

Standing at a point away from advancing to the grand finals, Ateneo got off on the wrong foot after ramenSAIJAYIN (Jett) gunned down Dippy (Sova) as soon as the clock of the 20th round started.

But before going down, Dippy was able to take OG beatsSAIJAYIN (Reyna) with him to even the personnel count.

Matteo (Killjoy) then got a kill on ramenSAIJAYIN at the B site before eliminating Prec1sion (Sova) inside the Bind tunnel.

FleX (Jett) used his Bladestorm to take down Fuggly (Killjoy) with 39 seconds remaining in the game — leaving TomoSaijayin (Omen) the lone player left for the side of USC.

TomoSaijayin free-fired the corners but skwamy got to him first as the Ateneans hammered the nail on the coffin.

FleX scored a game-high 24 kills laced with three assists and 11 kills to lead LG Esports.

Skwamy chipped in with 18 kills and eight assists against 10 deaths while Dippy delivered a 15-12-9 kill-death-assist tally in the 13-7 Game Two victory.

Meanwhile, Fuggly led the Mustang Warriors with 19 kills, 15 deaths, and five assists while TomoSAIJAYIN had 13 kills, 16 deaths, and an assist.

Ateneo kick-started the series with a 13-8 victory all thanks to Dippy’s Sova and yabba’s Omen.

LG Esports first went through Holy Angel University in the quarterfinals last April 18.

The Ateneo-La Salle bout will take place on Sunday.
