GAB says Siquijor Mystics showed no remorse during meeting

Games and Amusements Board chairman Baham Mitra bared that the agency was part of the decision-process of the Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas VisMin Super Cup when it handed out sanctions on both the Siquijor Mystics and the ARQ Builders-Lapu Lapu Heroes.

During the report of GAB representatives in Alcantara, namely Ronnie Fortes and Jimmy Donton, to Mitra, they bared that the Heroes were apologetic for what transpired in the farcical game that transpired last Wednesday.

On the other hand, the Mystics showed no remorse as bared by Mitra during Friday’s edition of Dos Por Dos.

“Yung GAB representatives natin dun kinausap sila, malungkot at humingi ng paumanhin yung mga taga-Lapu Lapu pero yung mga taga-Siquijor, e parang hindi… walang pagsisisi.”

The report also noted that Siquijor’s players and coaches had a disconnect with their statements.

“Parang lumabas sa dialog na may hindi pagkakaintindihan yung coaches at yung players ng Siquijor,” he continued.

All 12 players and the two coaches of Siquijor were handed lifetime bans from the league.

There are players who made an appeal.

On Saturday, Mitra is set to meet with the team owners of the five remaining teams in the bubble. Moreover, in the following days, GAB will also meet regarding whether game-fixing was involved in the contest that was stopped with a halftime score of 27-13.

The former governor of Palawan hopes that this would serve as a lesson for every pro team in the country to not waste the opportunity given to them by the Inter-Agency Task Force.

“Ang pinapayagan lang ng IATF ay yung mga professionals for their livelihood tapos biglang ganiyan gagawin nila. Kaya we don’t condone this. Kung may allegations ng game-fixing, lalo na ngayon, masama. Hindi pa na-establish pero yung investigation na umpisahan na. Bukas lahat ng team owners, kakausapin natin,” he said.

“While we believe in self-regulation, mayroon pa rin kaming sariling road. Hindi talaga maganda yung ginawa nila.”
