Caloy Yulo came up with another impressive routine and finished with the silver in the parallel bars competition of the 2021 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships held at the Kitakyushu General Gymnasium in Kitakyushu City, Japan on Sunday.
The 2019 Southeast Asian Games silver medalist on the apparatus ended with 15.300, a little off his 15.566 in the qualification.
Yulo showed his highly improved skills on the apparatus, starting off with an ambitious handstand on one rail right off his mount. That saw his difficulty score go up to 6.400.
Nonetheless, a nervy start cost him points on execution where he earned only 8.900.
Chinese gymnasts flanked the Ermita-born star as Hu Xinwei took the gold with 15.466. Shi Cong bagged the bronze with 15.066.
Yulo became the first Filipino gymnast to medal in three consecutive Worlds; and the first to capture two medals in the same edition. He previously bagged the title on vault a few hours before the parallel bars final.
