LIPA CITY, BATANGAS—A total of seven players from F2 Logistics suited up for the National team prior to the PNVF Champions League.
Kalei Mau, Tin Tiamzon, Dawn Macandili, Aby Maraño, and Iris Tolenada bannered the veteran-laden Choco Mucho squad. Meanwhile, Kianna Dy and Majoy Baron reinforced Rebisco’s youth brigade in the Asian Women’s Club Volleyball Championship in Thailand last October.
And for Cargo Movers head coach Ramil De Jesus, that National team stint did wonders for his team in the Champions League.
“Malaking bagay doon kasi nakalaro din sila sa national team sa Thailand. May connection kahit paano, ipa-polish mo nalang,” said the veteran tactician.
“Siguro advantage lang sa amin na matagal na kami magkakasama. Si Iris bago, pero willing naman mag-adapt ng sistema.”
F2 Logistics did miss almost two years of action. But they still put up a dominant performance in the Champions League.
There, the team never surrendered a set, ending the tournament with a perfect 5-0 record with 15 points.
The Cargo Movers then secured the first-ever Champions League title by taking down Premier Volleyball League champion Chery Tiggo, 25-20, 25-20, 25-22, last Thursday at the Aquamarine Sports Complex.
When the dust settled, the Cargo Movers ended up with the most individual awards in the tournament.
Dy bagged both the Most Valuable Player Award – her first-ever after high school. She also won the Best Opposite Spiker award.
Meanwhile, Maraño took home the first Best Middle Blocker. Macandili and Tolenada bagged the Best Libero and Best Setter awards, respectively.
