Quinley Quezada enjoyed another victory in the 2021-22 WE.League season after coming off the bench to help Chiba secure a 2-0 home win over Kanagawa Sagamihara, Sunday afternoon at the Fukuda Denshi Arena.
In front of 1,170 fans, JEF United’s win helped it rise to fourth place on the league table with 14 points on the back of four wins and two draws. On the other hand, Nojima is in ninth place with six points after one win and three draws.
“I think the players did well,” said a translated version of Chiba coach Shinji Sarusawa’s comments. “I understood that the opponents’ defense was solid, but it was difficult to score, and we were able to persevere and put high players in front of us in the second half and take the lead while making the most of that.
“We were also able to score extra points from the cross. I think it’s great that we have prepared and won.”
Quezada was brought on at the 77th minute in place of defender Maho Fujishiro as Chiba sought to freshen its lineup on the pitch.
Striker Haruka Osawa drew first blood for Sarusawa’s team at the 67th minute while midfielder Miho Kamogawa struck the killer goal at the 72nd minute.
“Winning at home is huge and the fans and supporters are delighted. I was also able to hear the support. It is important to keep winning in that context, and I hope they will come back to the stadium and support us. I will win next time, so thank you for your support,” concluded Sarusawa.
Quezada and the rest of the Chiba team look to build on this result when it takes on Sanfrecce Hiroshima Regina at the Hiroshima Koiki Park Football Stadium No.1 in Hiroshima, Japan, on Saturday at 12:00 PM (Philippine time).
