Petro Gazz received a much-needed confidence booster in the ongoing Philippine National Volleyball Federation Champions League.
On Sunday night, the Angels came back from a set down to stun Premier Volleyball League defending champion Chery Tiggo. They won a five-set 22-25, 25-20, 21-25, 25-21, 15-11 thriller at the Aquamarine Sports Complex in Lipa, Batangas.
“Very happy po kasi naipanalo namin ‘yung game today kasi alam namin na champion team ‘yun,” said Myla Pablo, the second best outside spiker in the Premier Volleyball League.
“Siguro ‘yung mga sinasabi ng coaches sa amin na dapat na gawin namin, ‘yun ‘yung na-apply namin sa court, especially ‘yung training namin every day.”
Reigning PVL Most Valuable Player Jaja Santiago was not there to reinforce the Crossovers in the Champions League. Still, Petro Gazz head coach Arnold Laniog knows that Chery Tiggo is a formidable team with the likes of Dindin Santiago-Manabat, Mylene Paat, and Jasmine Nabor.
With that, Laniog hopes that the win will give his wards added confidence while they gun for the top spot tomorrow against the league-leading F2 Logistics.
Meanwhile, Pablo hopes that the Angels can replicate the same feat against the Cargo Movers.
“Although sabihin natin na wala si Jaja, still… Knowing na natalo namin ‘yung champion team, dagdag kumpyansa ‘yun sa amin para sa mga susunod na game,” bared Laniog.
“Alam namin na malakas ‘yung F2. Siyempre, kailangan talaga is kung ano nilaro namin today, ma-apply namin tomorrow,” chimed Pablo.
“I’ll do my best for the team at ‘yun din gagawin ng coaches namin.”
The Petro Gazz-F2 Logistics clash will take place tomorrow at 4:00 PM.
