AcadArena: PUP disqualified for ghosting in CODM

Polytechnic University of the Philippines has been disqualified by AcadArena after violating one of the game rules in the Call of Duty Mobile Alliance Games lower bracket semifinals, the league announced on Tuesday.

Two members of the Pylon Phantoms committed “ghosting”, which is the act of another person using a player’s account, which the team admitted to doing during their last two matches against FIT Tamaraws Esports Club Dasig and LG Esports Altair.

Ghosting was in violation of the 4.1.2 rule of the AcadArena Alliance Games.

“Last July 10, 2022, Pylon Esports’ COD: Mobile Team “Phantoms” played their last 2 series against FIT Tamaraws Esports Club Dasig and LG Esports Altair, respectively, for their Alliance Games Finals run where they came out on top with a dominant win over both teams,” read the AcadArena statement.

“Whereas, the investigating parties both came to the conclusion that two (2) players from Pylon Phantoms were found guilty of engaging in ghosting and also confessed to engaging at such [act].”

This is the second time in two weeks that a team has been caught red-handed committing ghosting.

Just last week, Our Lady of Fatima University Esports was alleged of violating the rule in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, however, the team denied the accusation.

PUP is going to be sanctioned with the same penalty that OLFU was slapped. All matches by the Phantoms will be nullified and they will be suspended from all AcadArena competitions for six months.

With the recent disqualification, Far Eastern University’s FIT Dasig and Ateneo de Manila University’s LG Altair will clash for the grand finals spot on July 23 at the CONQuest Festival at the SMX Convention Center.
