After four stellar years with Far Eastern University, Ken Tuffin is set to begin a new chapter in his young career.
The Filipino-Kiwi swingman has decided to forego his final year with the Tamaraws.
“With the recent cancellation of UAAP Season 83 and after much thought and discussion over the last few weeks, I’ve come to the decision to forego my final playing year in FEU and instead play here in the NZNBL for a season. This decision was hard for me but in times of uncertainty I felt the need to do what’s best for me and have some certainty about what I’m doing right now,” he said in an Instagram post.
The 6-foot-4 sniper will focus on turning pro in the NZ-NBL.
Tuffin averaged 5.22 points on 35.7-percent shooting with 2.87 rebounds in 68 games played with FEU. He never missed a Final Four.
In Season 82, Tuffin was made captain of the Tamaraws. And he delivered, norming 7.47 points on 39.47-percent clip from three-point land with 3.73 rebounds per contest.
Last July, he was drafted as the 44th overall pick in the 2020 NZ-NBL Draft by Taranaki Mountainairs.
Tuffin, who was drafted as an amateur, averaged 9.2 points on 42.4-percent shooting from three and 4.7 rebounds per game during the 2020 season.
He had said that he will eventually join the PBA one day.
